SEED focuses on promoting policies and initiatives that combat racism at a broader societal and legislative level.
SEED seeks to help understand, address, and dismantle systemic racism and racial bias.
Our work involves:
1. **Policy Analysis and Development**: Researching, analyzing, and developing policies that address systemic racism and promote racial equity. This includes identifying existing laws and practices that contribute to racial disparities and proposing changes for new legislation.
**Assessment and Analysis**: Conducting surveys, interviews, and audits to assess the current state of diversity, equity, and inclusion to help identify areas where racism and bias are present.
2. **Legislative Advocacy**: Engaging with lawmakers, government officials, and policymakers to advocate for anti-racist policies. This includes lobbying for the introduction, passage, or amendment of legislation that addresses racial injustices.
**Training and Education**: Developing and delivering training programs, workshops, and seminars to raise awareness about racism, bias, privilege, and cultural competence that promote healthy work environment free of racial discrimination. This often includes topics such as unconscious bias, microaggressions, and the history and impact of systemic racism.
3. **Community Engagement**: Working directly with racialised communities to understand their needs, gather input, and ensure their voices are represented in advocacy efforts.
